The Past Few Weeks

Catching up on the last few weeks. Jake cam to town and we all shredded the bird. Took Linds up finally and me and the boys with our weekly Saturday man stuff (Cal Ranch and gas station treats). Skating and taking Cort on his "walk."

One of the best sounds to me is when I get to Snowbird and you hear the "BOOM" of the avalanche control work being done. It means it's going to be a good day!

Freshies

A nice little storm rolled through and dropped some fresh snow on the mountains. So I hit up Snowbird with my neighbor Matt. It was super good!! We hit fresh lines all day long!

Brighton Father & Son Shred

Rolled up to Brighton with Christian today. Warm, sunny and good snow.  Got some footage of Chris putting together some turns.

Buzz

Cort got this Buzz lightyear costume for Christmas and he has been wearing it as much as possible. We went over to Jeff and Jessie's last night and he wanted to ride Jeff's "noboart."

Famliy Shred

Linds got some much needed gear for Christmas and was stoked to get out with the kids to try it. So we headed up to Snowbird with the kids. Even Cort went up with us. Jessie and Jeff met up with us too. It was super fun. Some of the best days I remember are at Snowbird and even after 25 plus years of going up there it never gets old. I got a little clip of Cort on the board too.

So on Sunday while we were getting ready for church, Kanyon comes up to me and says, "Dad, I have a secret.  Come close because I have to whisper so mom doesn't hear.  As soon as mom is ready to go to church we will tell her we are sick and then we will go snowboarding to Snowbird."

Snowbird Lunch

Me and Tuck went up to the bird today at lunch to play in the new snow. It was DEEP!  It amazes me every time I am there how much energy that place fills you with! Especially with fresh snow. Jess came up with her and Tucks kids too.  I guess Ava has had her snowsuit and snowboard boots on all day and had to come up. Took this pic with my crappy phone.

Mud Boggin

So me and the my two older boys had a little adventure yesterday.  Kanyon and Christian wanted to go up the canyon and see some of the snow.  So we drove up in the Legacy to Silver Lake. We got into some snow on the road up toward the top and almost got stuck. But we were able to rip around and get out.  We parked up at the Upper Silver lake trailhead lot  and got out to play in the snow.  We decided to walk down to the lake and skip some rocks. The ground was covered in snow and it seemed to be pretty solid.  We were about 400 yards away from the car and the ground seemed to be getting a bit spongy.  About 2 steps later we all sank.  I was up to about mid thigh.  Both Chrish and Kan lost their shoes.  I thought I was stuck for good.  There were no other people up their and I thought for sure we would end up dying there halfway buried in the mud and snow.  Somehow I was able to free myself but had to work my way out of my shoes as well.  There was no way to get them out.  Christian and Kanyon were both freezing and my feet were super cold too.  I packed Chris  on my back and Kan under my arms like a baby and started heading for the car.  I thought for sure they would have to amputate my feet.  Chris kept falling off and would walk a few steps and I would have to get him back on my back.  We made it back to the car and my feet were burning super bad when they started thawing out.  The kids thought it was pretty funny once we were warm and safe in the car, where just a few minutes earlier while I was carrying them through the frozen tundra they kept saying this turned into the worst day of our lives!!!  I told them they would never forget this day for sure.
